Nuclear cycle management

After the nuclear power plant operating in Lithuania was shut down, the nuclear energy cycle did not end there. Today, Lithuania is in its final stage, and it is now important to ensure the smooth and safe management of the nuclear legacy. 

Just as every cycle moves on to the next one, we view this stage not as an end, but as an opportunity for the beginning of a new cycle. After the complete dismantling of the plant and the safe management of radioactive waste, we can move into a more advanced nuclear energy period. A new generation power plant could be constructed on the former site, ensuring stable and reliable energy supply and thus supporting the health of Lithuania’s energy system.

Lithuania has accumulated over four decades of unique global experience in the field of nuclear energy, which we can utilise by starting a new nuclear energy cycle stage or by commercialising our accumulated knowledge.
