Our journey towards sustainability

For us, sustainability is a strategic commitment and a shared responsibility. We seek not only to transform into a sustainably managed state enterprise but also to become a role model in the sustainable nuclear power plant decommissioning process. We are developing effective practices and accumulating valuable experience for future generations, laying the foundations for sustainable nuclear energy and ensuring nuclear and radiation safety.

The main sustainability principles applied in our operations are:

  • to develop the sustainability direction as an integral part of the company’s strategy and to integrate sustainability principles into corporate governance;
  • to implement sustainability principles in three areas – environmental, social and governance – to create long-term value in a comprehensive manner, reflected in operational results;
  • to implement globally recognised good governance principles as recommended by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD);
  • to consider stakeholder expectations when making decisions about the company’s development, to honour commitments to them and to engage with them transparently and fairly;
  • to contribute to the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals;
  • to adhere to the common goals set by the European Green Deal and the Paris Agreement on climate change;
  • to support and apply in our operations the principles of the United Nations Global Compact on human rights, labour rights, environmental protection and anti-corruption;
  • to carry out due diligence on environmental, social and economic impact management;
  • to observe the precautionary principle when setting sustainability targets, i.e. in terms of environmental protection, and to follow the best available scientific recommendations.

We have set eight ambitious environmental, social and governance goals.
