Public Engagement and Awareness

The decommissioning of the nuclear power plant operating in Lithuania is a nationally significant project requiring maximum transparency and public trust.

We aim for every Lithuanian resident to have the opportunity to become familiar with the megaproject and its progress, and to learn how and why this project is being implemented.

  • We provide information about the megaproject progress: we continuously provide information about ongoing projects, project advancement, performed works and technological solutions.
  • We open the doors: we invite everyone to visit the power plant to see first-hand how radioactive waste is managed and what works are undertaken to ensure the safe management of the nuclear legacy. Special expeditions and a dedicated information centre are allocated for this purpose.
  • We invite participation in decision-making: the public has the right to participate in important decisions in the nuclear energy sector – this is also provided for by our national laws. During important decision-making processes, we invite the public to review information and submit their proposals.
  • We educate and dispel myths: we introduce the radioactive waste management processes, challenges and planned future projects, and dispel prevailing myths in the nuclear energy field.

We invite interest, questions, involvement and pride – we are developing a globally unique project whose successful implementation is an important achievement for our country.
