Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant, operating under the Altra brand, is strengthening its organisational resilience and security management with the appointment of Tautvydas Janušonis as its first Head of Resilience. Mr Janušonis brings more than a decade of experience in national security. He will be responsible for enhancing the company’s strategic resilience, managing risks and ensuring preparedness for potential threats and crises.
“Safety is an absolute priority in the nuclear energy sector, and today it extends far beyond the physical protection of facilities. We must be prepared for a wide range of threats, from cyber incidents to challenges that could affect business continuity. We are therefore strengthening our strategic approach to resilience by bringing different areas of security and risk management together within a single framework. Our aim is not only to respond effectively to threats, but first and foremost to anticipate and prevent them,” said Linas Baužys, CEO of Altra.
In this newly created role, Mr Janušonis will develop and implement the organisation’s resilience strategy, covering physical and cyber security, risk and crisis management, business continuity, corruption prevention, and occupational health and safety. One of his key responsibilities will be to ensure that the organisation can maintain operational stability even under challenging circumstances.
Mr Janušonis will also coordinate the organisation’s emergency preparedness and its cooperation with public authorities and regulatory bodies on security and resilience matters.
“Organisational resilience begins with the ability to identify risks in good time, assess their potential impact and make sound decisions. My aim is to strengthen our systematic approach to security so that threat prevention, crisis preparedness and business continuity are not treated as separate functions, but as an integral and consistent part of the organisation’s operations.
“In the strategically important nuclear energy sector, this requires not only the highest level of professionalism, but also the ability to anticipate what may lie several steps ahead,” said Tautvydas Janušonis, Head of Resilience at Altra.
Altra is implementing nuclear facility decommissioning and radioactive waste management projects of strategic importance to Lithuania. The continued strengthening of organisational resilience is therefore an integral part of the company’s commitment to responsible and safe operations.
